Utility Operator

Shift:

Responsible for the safe, efficient, and proper operation of all equipment associated with utility plant and distribution system serving the Nebraska Medicine/UNMC campus. Starts, operates, and shuts down boilers and their auxiliaries, chillers and auxiliaries, generators and auxiliaries, and all other necessary plant equipment from a central control room. Responsible for the for the operation and monitoring of the 13.8 KV and 5KV electrical distribution system serving the Nebraska Medicine/UNMC campus. Performs preventative and routine maintenance as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

• High School education or equivalent required.
• Minimum two years experience in operation and maintenance of high pressure boilers and related equipment to include fundamental knowledge of industrial plant chilled water, steam, and electrical systems required.
• Demonstrated ability to operate industrial or commercial control systems required.
• Ability to read, interpret, and work from blueprints, drawings and layouts required.
• Demonstrated mechanical and operational aptitude required.
• Valid motor vehicle operator's license required.
• A valid City of Omaha 3rd, 2nd, or 1st Grade Stationary Engineer license required.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Relevant coursework/specialized training preferred.
• Technical school, trade school, community college, apprenticeship program, and/correlated education program preferred.
• Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook preferred.
