Job title: Senior Cloud Database Engineer
Compensation: $120,000-$160,000
Location: Omaha, NE - Hybrid (preferred) or Remote

The job: 
As a Senior Cloud Database Engineer, you will be instrumental in building and supporting a world-class database platform that powers seamless information flow across the organization. You'll work at the intersection of backend architecture and user-facing accessibility, ensuring our systems are resilient, scalable, and high-performing in the cloud.

What you will do: 

• Administer and optimize SQL Server databases for high availability, performance, and scalability across cloud environments.
• Implement and test backup and recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and disaster readiness.
• Participate in disaster recovery planning and design; regularly test and validate recovery procedures.
• Perform operational tasks across both such as failovers across both cloud-managed and self-hosted SQL environments.
• Participate in code reviews and architecture discussions to uphold database standards, best practices, and maintainable design patterns.
• Plan and execute database migrations across cloud providers with minimal customer disruption
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues by collaborating with vendors and cross-functional teams.
• Develop monitoring dashboards and analyze telemetry data for proactive issue detection.
• Assist with capacity planning, database growth forecasting, and deployment efforts.
• Support documentation, training, and on-call rotations to maintain operational excellence.

Who you are and what you need: 

• Bachelorâ??s degree in computer science information systems, or related field required.
• 5+ years of experience as a SQL Server Database Administrator, preferably supporting high-volume, enterprise-scale SaaS environments.
• Expertise in SQL Server 2022+ internals, including query performance tuning, index optimization, and execution plan analysis.
• Strong experience with monitoring and troubleshooting production environments using Datadog, extended events, and custom alerting.
• Skilled in infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, Git, and Azure DevOps, with hands-on experience in CI/CD pipelines.
• Proven ability to manage cloud database platforms like Google Cloud SQL, AWS RDS, and Azure SQL.
• Experienced in backup/recovery strategies, security, data integrity, and SQL Server configuration best practices.
• Familiar with database design principles, enterprise architecture, and supporting tools; experience with PostgreSQL and MongoDB is preferred.
• Experience building and running containerized applications with Docker is preferred.
• Effective communicator with a collaborative mindset
